A paid Cumae Record is served from your own subdomain on CRSTBL — yourbusiness.crstbl.com. That is a deliberate choice, and it does two things a record on a merchant’s own hosting cannot.
CRSTBL controls the hostname.
Because the record is served from a hostname CRSTBL operates, CRSTBL can state and stand behind the link between that hostname and your verified business. A record on an arbitrary domain proves nothing on its own — anyone can publish a record about any business on a domain they happen to own.
One standard across every record.
CRSTBL manages DNS, TLS configuration, HSTS, CAA records that limit which authorities may issue certificates for the hostname, and certificate-transparency monitoring. Every record gets the same posture, rather than depending on each business’s own hosting.
You can confirm it from your own site.
Add one line linking your website to your record, and the record publishes that the link was confirmed and when. That makes the ownership claim verifiable by anyone — including a retrieving AI system — without having to take CRSTBL’s word for it.

Google Business Profile gets your business into Google Maps and Search. The AI ecosystem is larger than Google — and a directory listing was never built to carry the depth an AI agent needs to answer a real question.
A neutral source, not a competitor’s directory.
Google’s directory serves Google’s ecosystem. Independent AI applications and commercial networks have their own reasons not to depend on it. Cumae is designed as a neutral, merchant-authorized source that approved applications can register to access.

You maintain one approved record instead of reconciling the same hours, menu and policy details across every directory separately. Registered applications retrieve the current approved version under their integration terms. Open web and external AI systems refresh on their own schedules.

A directory listing was built for a world where customers searched by keyword and clicked a link. A Cumae record is built for a world where customers ask a question with conditions attached — and something has to be able to answer it accurately.

Cumae monitoring works from a defined company question library — a controlled set of questions tied to your approved business facts. CRSTBL periodically tests those questions across designated AI services and compares the observed answers with your current Cumae record.
When an answer materially contradicts your record, CRSTBL captures the prompt, the answer, the platform, the date and the cited sources, establishes an incident record, and notifies your business.
