Solutions › Agent Roles › Policy Expert
One answer to the rules questions.
Eligibility, coverage, returns, warranty, benefits, terms. These are the questions where two different answers from two different people become a real problem — and exactly the questions a well-bounded agent handles consistently, in every language, at any hour.
What this agent actually does.
Policy content is usually written once, buried in a PDF, and then explained inconsistently forever. This role makes the written version the one customers actually get.
Explains the rule in plain language
Translates terms, coverage tables, and eligibility criteria into an answer the customer can act on.
Applies it to their situation
Works through the specifics — their plan, their purchase date, their region — instead of quoting the policy back at them.
Stays inside its boundaries
Defined scope and escalation rules mean it answers what it is authorized to answer and hands off the rest.
Shows you where policy is unclear
Reports which rules generate the most questions — usually the clearest signal that the written version needs work.
On boundaries
This is the role where scope discipline matters most. Defining what the agent may answer, what it must escalate, and what it must never guess at is a structured step in onboarding, not an afterthought — the same SOP and work-instruction process behind every CRSTA deployment. For programs that need identity before disclosure, agents can sit behind email-verified member authentication.
Questions it answers all day.
These come straight from live deployments. Your agent’s version is built from your own policy documents.
“Am I still under warranty?”
“What is your return window, and does this item qualify?”
“Which benefits come with my membership tier?”
“Do I qualify for this offer?”
“What does my plan cover in this situation?”
“How do I renew, and what changes if I do not?”
“What certifications does this product carry?”
“What are the terms on this promotion?”
Same role, different rulebook.

How it is configured.
Agent type
Voice or avatar. Voice is the common choice here — policy conversations are about clarity and accuracy rather than brand presence.
Account scope
Runs on any CRSTA tier. Programs that need member authentication or integration with a member database sit on Enterprise.
What you supply
Policy documents, terms, benefit tables, and your escalation rules. Boundary definition is done with you during onboarding.
Deployments that integrate with a CRM, loyalty platform, or member database run 4–8 weeks of structured onboarding on Network and 8–12 weeks on Enterprise for the first agent, then 1–2 weeks for each additional agent.
Answer the rules the same way every time.
Book 30 minutes and we will scope this role against your actual policy set — including where the boundaries and escalation paths need to sit.
